Overview  

The Industrial Product Design and Development Manager will lead the conceptualization, design, and development of innovative products, particularly in renewable energy solutions, including wind turbines, energy storage systems, and EV charging infrastructure. This role requires a robust understanding of mechanical design, user-centric product development, and market needs to ensure EUNICE’s products are both technically superior and market-ready. The successful candidate will manage a multi-disciplinary design team and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable products. 

Responsibilities 

  • Product Development Leadership:
    Drive the end-to-end product design and development process, from initial concept through to final production, ensuring products align with market trends, technical feasibility, and company objectives. 
  • Innovation and Design Strategy:
    Lead brainstorming and concept development sessions, employing design thinking and user-centered approaches to develop product concepts that meet technical, aesthetic, and functional requirements. 
  • Mechanical and Industrial Design Oversight:
    Provide technical direction for all mechanical and industrial design activities, ensuring design solutions are structurally sound, manufacturable, and meet regulatory standards. Supervise 3D modeling, prototyping, and testing processes to ensure adherence to high performance and durability standards. 
  • Project and Budget Management:
    Oversee project timelines and budgets, managing resources effectively and mitigating project risks. Work closely with cross-functional teams in engineering, procurement, and production to ensure seamless project execution. 
  • User-Centric Product Optimization:
    Conduct user needs assessments and market research to guide product features and design specifications. Implement feedback from stakeholders, including end-users, clients, and sales teams, to enhance product performance and user satisfaction. 
  • Prototyping and Testing:
    Direct the creation of prototypes and manage testing processes to validate design performance, functionality, and reliability. Ensure rigorous quality control standards are met during product testing and refinement phases. 
  • Supplier and Vendor Coordination:
    Work with suppliers and manufacturers to optimize material selection, tooling, and fabrication methods. Negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and oversee component quality to maintain consistency in product development. 
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensure all products comply with applicable industry regulations and standards, including CE marking, safety standards, and environmental certifications. Manage documentation for regulatory approvals and certifications. 
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
    Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements in renewable energy product design, applying this knowledge to enhance product performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. 

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Product Design Engineering (Master’s degree preferred). 
  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in product design and development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role. Experience in the renewable energy or industrial manufacturing sectors is highly preferred. 
  • Technical Skills 
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) for detailed 3D modeling and simulation. 
  • Knowledge of materials science, prototyping methods, and manufacturing processes. 
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems, design for manufacturability (DFM), and design for assembly (DFA). 
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and regulatory standards. 
  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Product Design (e.g., CPD) is a plus. 
  • Strong project management capabilities, with experience in handling complex, multi-phase product development projects within budgetary and time constraints. 
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts and technical information to various audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.

Work Conditions 

  • Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week. Flexibility in working hours may be required. 
  • Contract Type: Permanent contract with a 6-month probation period. 
  • Location: Attiki 
  • Work Environment: Office-based with on-site project visits as needed. 
  • Remote Work: Hybrid workplace model, 1 day remote work per week
