EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG): New investments in the energy independence of four islands in the Aegean Sea with the ground-breaking technological system S4S used in Tilos

-Anafi, Donousa, Leros and Fournoi to become the new “smart” green and energy-independent islands of Greece and the European Union

EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) announces that the Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) has approved its applications for the issue of power production licenses for Hybrid Stations (HS) in the islands of Anafi, Donousa, Leros in the Southern Aegean, and Fournoi Korseon in the Northern Aegean, with a total guaranteed power of 2.5 MW.

Anafi, Donousa, Leros and Fournoi are to become the new “smart” green and energy-independent islands of Greece and the European Union. The technological model that was financed, developed and installed by the EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) in the island of Tilos will be fully implemented to these islands – the sole project in operation – gaining international recognition and ranking the company among the technological pioneers in the production of clean energy from the wind and the sun.

The technological model of the first operating Hybrid Power Station in the island of Tilos integrates the innovative S4S system (STORAGE FOR SUSTAINABILITY, SMART GRID, SOLUTIONS, SECURITY), which has been developed and implemented by the EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) for digital self-generation, storage and smart management of energy from Renewable Energy Sources (RES).

The technological innovation S4S by the EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) can combine different RES energy sources with storage. In addition, it implements real-time management of meteorological, technical, charging, storage, and operation data to ensure uninterrupted power supply, even in the most remote areas. With real data, the strategic goal of the EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) aims to expand the existing project know-how and to reproduce the S4S model to the islands of Anafi, Donousa, Leros and Fournoi Korseon.

With the investments for the energy independence of these islands, the EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) contributes practically and decisively to the implementation of the European and national policy for decarbonisation of the economy, achieving at the same time multiple objectives. These objectives include reducing hydrocarbon combustion for energy production, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and protecting the environment by increasing the potential and penetration of Renewable Energy Sources as well as reducing energy costs.

In particular, the Hybrid Power Plants of the EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) in the Aegean ensure substantial detachment of the islands from their oil dependency and electricity supply, using their high wind and solar potential, which remains unexploited today. They also improve the energy security of the islands by utilising innovative energy technologies, such as energy storage systems, smart meters and advanced energy management systems, resulting in the energy independence of the islands and the consumers themselves, with the aim to become NetProsumers, with great economic and environmental benefits.

The Contract for the Sale of Hybrid Station Electricity that was signed between HEDNO and the EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) for the Hybrid Power Station of Tilos was the first one of its kind in Greece and in the whole of Europe. A similar licensing procedure will be followed for the new Hybrid Power Stations in the four Greek islands of the Aegean, since the technological innovations implemented with absolute success in the Hybrid Power Station of Tilos, can be regarded as a starting and reference point for all new investments made by the EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) and a landmark for Greece, with recognition on European and global level.

It shall be noted that: EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) is a pioneer in the development of Greek know-how in the field of construction and operation of hybrid power plants. At the same time, the company pioneers in the development of software required for the forecast and management of energy production, demand and storage.

For the second consecutive year, EUNICE TRADING, a subsidiary of the EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) operating under the distinctive title WE ENERGY, is ranked at the top of the Greek energy market for 2019, supplying its customers with 100% green, clean electricity generated from renewable sources (100% mixture from renewable sources), according to official announcements of the RES & Guarantee of Origin Manager (DAPEEP).

In combination with the only privately owned wind turbine production plant in the country, the EUNICE ENERGY GROUP (EEG) creates all the conditions in order to transition to the next day in energy at the forefront of the European and international energy technology, with a Greek stamp and a high domestic added value.
